Re: Beaches and Walking from Memories Dec 2 to 17

I believe Memories had cars, ATV/quads and motor scooters for rent. We talked with one couple who rented a quad for a week and I believe the weekly rate was only 3 times the daily rate (possibly < C$100???). For us walking one way and paying C$5 for the taxi ride back was less stress and more enjoya...

Re: Beaches and Walking from Memories Dec 2 to 17

Additional comments – When we first booked our trip Sunwing had bicycles listed under “shops and services”. These are no longer listed and they are not available. Sunwing lists “cocktail class” and “dance lessons”. Possibly these were offered during the day when we were on the beach, but we did not ...

Re: Memories Dec 2 to 17

Answering Petern: Tipping – Most of the tourists we were with (French / English Canadians) were tipping with C$1 and C$2 coins (known in Canada as Loonies and Toonies) and using C$5 notes for tipping at Las Trinas (Italian / International restaurant) and for a cab for a couple to go to/from Playa Pa...

Memories Dec 2 to 17

** This posting is two of two. We are a "young" 70 year old couple who vacationed at Memories (Sol) December 2 through 17, 2022. The food is, in my opinion, better than previous years. More consistent and somewhat better quality. During our visit the Ranchon was only open at noon, although...

Beaches and Walking from Memories Dec 2 to 17

We are a "young" 70 year old couple who vacationed at Memories (Sol) December 2 through 17, 2022. We first started going to Cayo Largo in 2003 and including this trip we've been to Cayo Largo 18 times. Over the years we've stayed in the three largest resorts - Grand Memories (formerly Play...

Re: Beach walks from Sol Cayo Largo Friday Nov 29 through Friday December 13

The short answer is indeed that there are "not enough palapas". The naturist beach had about 15 palapas toward the end of the second week, but high tides then took down most of them, and made it impossible to put them back up while the water was high. (At this point we calculate that there...

Beach walks from Sol Cayo Largo Friday Nov 29 through Friday December 13

The Sol was pretty empty the first week with only a few housing blocks open and few of us competing for the palapas. We were assigned the main floor of block 12 which we were pretty happy with as it faced the dunes and we didn’t seem to have neighbours beside or above us. The “Las Dunas” buffet was ...
