What to do between checkout 12noon and Depart at night?

Message par tonyking »

We are scheduled to depart on Sunday night (Air Transat) but the checkout time is only @ 12:00noon.

Will we still be allowed to go to the pool. bar and restaurants to eat until our departure time ?

What can we do with our luggage from 12noon until we depart?

Will there be any extra charges?

Thanks !!!

Yes you can go about your day as usual except that you have to check out at noon and leave your luggage in a secured room in the lobby. They also have a room where you can go have a shower. But you can also keep your room longer by buying more hours. It costs 6 cuc per additional hour. We kept our room until six and for the last hour we went at the pizza shack. You have to be in the lobby around 7 to get on the shuttle for the airport. Remember to return your beach towels , you will get the voucher back, you need it for your check out.

Best bet is to attend your rep's meeting the day following your arrival. You' ll get all the infos, especially if it is your first time in Cayo Largo

Yes we have been to Varadero but this is our first visit to Cayo Largo.

We are staying at the Pelecano.
Buying extra time and keeping the room until 6pm makes sense.

Thank you for your help.

tonyking, if there is availability, late check-out is so worth it! You don't have to lug your valuables around all day, you can take full advantage of your day at the beach and then come back to shower in your own room before you head out. Whenever I have a late departure, I always budget for a late check-out.

I also budget for the VIP room at the CL airport upon departure - a nice way to end your vacation! :smt023

Enjoy CL! :D

I paid for a late check out at Villa Iguana but you had to pay cash. Credit card terminal wasn't working, I was told, so you might want to bring the extra cash just in case.

What does a VIP room at the airport cost?

Is it rented by the hour ...Can we book this before (from here) or when we get to CL?

Hi Tony! The VIP lounge at the CL airport cost 20 or 25 CUC per person, I can't remember (and 10 CUC for children). The hostess wears a green vest and usually waits for customers near the entrance. You can also ask any airport employee to point her out to you. Once in a while, she's has a day off and no one replaces her, but that doesn't happen too often. Unless there's been a change since last March, the regular attendant is Jacquelyn (not sure of the spelling, sorry!)

If you sign up with her, you will be able to check in using the first line (the one reserved for Option Plus/Club Class passengers), and she will escort you to the VIP immigration line. Past immigration and security, she will usually gather a few passengers and take you to the lounge located on the other side of the airport. You can stay there until your flight. If you want to shop at the duty free, you'll have the chance to do it before heading to the lounge, or once you are there - the hostess will offer. Inside the lounge, you will find roomy and comfy couches (instead of small hard chairs in the regular departure lounge), free drinks and snacks, really cold air conditioning (!) and separate toilets where no one can see you pee (the toilets in the regular departure lounge have very low walls). You also get to board the plane first.

Don't hesitate if you have any other questions!
