News from the Isle of Youth
Hi friends of Cayo Largo
I asked a friend who I met on my visit to Cayo Largo, What did the hurricane Ivan do to you ?
She did not mention big damage to the resorts on Cayo Largo She said the resorts are ok. Her limited english (or French) may be a problem in how much she says.
She told me that she did have hole in the wall of her house caused by
Ivan. I do not know what made the hole.
I will ask for more details.

Good News from Sol Melia re Cayo Largo
Today i heard from a person who works for Sol Melia Cuba.
In her e-mail response she told me that yes the Island did recieve some damage from the passage of Hurricane Ivan. She said they plan to be open for November 1st as planned.
I doubt she has seen the island's condition but she still expects to see everything resotred to what we have expected of Sol Melia Cuba in the past.
I am sure that the Barcelo will have a similar result. The person I spoke to there had no current information and was located somewhere in the United States
Perhaps we should all pray or focus our mental energies so that the area is spared anymore hurricanes. It has been said that October is the worse month for hurricanes.

I am so happy that the little island didn't suffer too much and that we'll be able to be there as planned in Nov. It means a lot to the staff to have their jobs too as the year that Cayo Largo shut down was hard for them financially. I also hope that the horses survived...I love to ride my little Tricky tricky!
